Phlebotomist II
Location: San Antonio TX 78258
Duration: 04 Month Contract (Possibility of extension or conversion)
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:30 pm
Pay Rate: $19-$23.39/hour (W2) (Based on experience and education)
Position Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the company, providing high-quality service to patients visiting for routine health screenings or important diagnostic testing. This role is responsible for performing accurate and safe specimen collection (including venipuncture), preparing samples for laboratory testing, and maintaining a professional and confidential environment.
The PSR II builds trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures clearly and performing collections in a skilful, safe, and compassionate manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Collect clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures.
- Perform venipuncture, capillary, paediatric, and geriatric blood collections.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain required signatures to ensure accurate specimen labelling.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviours and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and colleagues.
- Travel to multiple locations as needed, including Patient Service Centres and in-office phlebotomy sites.
- Remain flexible for weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as required.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience (including paediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections) – Required
- 2 years in a Patient Service Centre environment – Preferred
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment – Highly Preferred
- Keyboard and data entry experience – Required
