Overview
Seeking a Supervisor RN to lead the Surgery Department at our facility. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective patient care, and supporting staff development through education and training. The RN Supervisor will collaborate with nursing leadership to maintain excellence in perioperative services and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize and delegate patient care workflow in an organized and efficient manner.
- Reassign patient assignments based on team member skill level and continuity of care.
- Coordinate staff scheduling and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Lead orientation and training for newly hired team members.
- Organize and implement staff education, in-services, and competency programs.
- Collaborate with leadership to resolve complex unit issues and patient concerns.
- Support temporarily reassigned staff during their shifts.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance input to staff and leadership.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or currently enrolled in an RN-to-BSN program with completion within 2 years of hire.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of operating room experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Prior supervisory and teaching experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current RN license in the state of Iowa or eligibility per Iowa Board of Nursing.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) required within one year of hire.
- Advanced specialty certifications preferred.
- Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
