Medical Laboratory Scientist II Greenville, MI
Schedule: 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
Shift Pattern: Variable schedule (changes every 3 weeks), 3 days per week
Pay Range - $46-$56
Job Overview
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs complex laboratory testing, analyzes results, and ensures the accuracy and reliability of all diagnostic data. This role provides technical expertise, supports workflow efficiency, and adheres to all regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Diagnostic Testing: Conduct moderate and high-complexity tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, immunology, microbiology, and blood bank.
- Quality Control: Run and evaluate QC samples, ensuring all results meet laboratory standards before releasing patient results.
- Instrument Maintenance: Perform routine and preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of analyzers and laboratory equipment.
- Specimen Management: Receive, label, process, and verify specimen integrity according to established protocols.
- Result Verification: Analyze and validate test results, identify discrepancies, and escalate abnormal findings to physicians as needed.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records, meet CLIA/CAP standards, and follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other laboratory staff to support efficient patient care.
- Support Training: Assist in onboarding and mentoring new staff or MLS students as needed.
- Workflow Efficiency: Adapt to changing schedules and maintain productivity across rotating shifts every 3 weeks.
- Emergency Response: Provide timely testing support for STAT, urgent, and routine laboratory requests.
