Registered Nurse I – Labor and Delivery
Location: Tulsa, OK
Position Type: Direct Hire
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Pay Range: $33.15 to $51.39 per hour
Incentives: Up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates who live outside a 71‑mile radius and commit to a two‑year agreement
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse I provides comprehensive nursing care to patients within the Labor and Delivery unit by utilizing the nursing process and adhering to hospital standards, policies and procedures. This role is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care with a focus on safety, communication and collaboration across the clinical team.
Unit Overview
- 20 Labor and Delivery rooms
- 11 OB triage rooms
- 3 surgical suites
- Approximately 350 deliveries per month
- 40 percent high‑risk obstetrics
- Second highest delivery volume in Oklahoma
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Organize and complete patient care activities while considering patient age, cultural background and psychosocial needs.
- Document all phases of the nursing process using appropriate medical terminology.
- Monitor patient progress, identify concerns and support discharge planning with appropriate referrals and education.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and effective care.
- Participate in performance improvement, education activities and required in‑service training.
- Utilize independent judgment when making clinical decisions within established guidelines.
- Interact frequently with patients, families, physicians, leadership and internal or external stakeholders in person or by phone.
- Contribute to unit and hospital goals through accurate reporting, timely documentation and adherence to quality standards.
- Support peers and coordinate care activities without direct supervisory responsibility.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum two years of Labor and Delivery experience.
- Zero to six months experience required within general nursing practice after licensure.
- Working knowledge of disease management, clinical pathways and the bio‑psychosocial model.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Attention to detail, specifically in reviewing clinical and numerical data.
Education Requirement
Completion of an approved school of nursing program with eligibility for a nursing diploma or degree.
Licensure and Certifications
- Valid multi‑state or Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
- BLS and other unit‑required certifications may be required upon hire (if applicable).
