Health Information Specialist

🚨 WE’RE HIRING: HIM ANALYST 🏥

📍 Location: Morristown, NJ 07960

💰 Pay: $24–$28/hour

📅 Contract: 3 months with a strong possibility of extension

⏰ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM

🕒 Hours: 38 hours/week

Key Responsibilities:

• Review medical record authorizations for accuracy and validity.
• Process requests for release of medical information (ROI) in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records of requests, documents released, and requestor information.
• Retrieve, organize, and process incoming mail and faxed documents.
• Verify patient/requestor identity and process in-person requests and payments.
• Validate medical records before release and ensure electronic records are password-protected.
• Respond to calls and inquiries from internal and external customers.
• Escalate questionable release-of-information requests to the HIM Supervisor.

Requirements:

• Active RHIA or RHIT certification required.
• Associate degree in Health Information Technology, bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, OR high school diploma with at least 2 years of healthcare experience.
• Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience working with electronic medical record systems.
• Knowledge of release of information (ROI) preferred.
• Strong verbal communication, critical thinking, multitasking, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of incoming calls.
