Russell Tobin's client, a wholesale company, is hiring a Finishing Utility in Conover, NCApply Now!Employment Type: ContractLocation: Conover, NC 28613Duration: 6 months with possible extension or conversionPay range: $16.50/hr - $17/hrShift Schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This is a 12-hour shift schedule with a pattern of 4 days on, followed by 4 days off. The shift includes paid breaks and a paid meal period.Job Summary:The Finishing Utility team member is responsible for feeding cartons onto the production line and packing cartons using automated equipment or by hand. This role includes operating machinery such as shrink tunnels and robots, transporting materials with an electric pallet jack in designated areas, and maintaining excellent housekeeping and safety standards. Cross-training to support flatpack and sorting operations is required. All team members must adhere to core company values, safety absolutes, and plant directives.Essential Functions:Feed cartons onto the conveyor belt, ensuring proper stack height, orientation, and alignment.Pack finished cartons into corrugated cases using automatic packing equipment or by hand.Operate and monitor production equipment including bulk-pack, break-away, and case-pack systems, shrink tunnels, and robots.Safely transport pallets of cartons within non-forklift zones using an electric pallet jack.Perform regular quality checks on cartons and materials in process.Conduct quality audits, check job specifications, and change pallets/loads as required.Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards to a high level.Actively participate in the safety program, including safety interventions and following all safety absolutes and policies.Follow all workplace rules, policies, and procedures related to safety, quality (SQF), and compliance.Utilize the plant floor data collection system and perform basic testing/measuring.Complete all other duties as assigned by department management.Top Requirements:Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs.Strong attention to detail.Commitment to and knowledge of safe working techniques.Mandatory Safety & PPE:Steel toe or composite toe safety shoes are required from the first day of employment.Safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves (per policy) must be worn at all times on the production floor.Bump caps, hair nets, and beard nets are required as per company policy.Strict adherence to all safety policies, including S.T.E.P.
