Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery (L&D) team. The RN will provide comprehensive, family-centered care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum process. This role requires a nurse who is confident in managing both routine and high-risk obstetric situations, possesses strong technical skills in IV insertion and conscious sedation, and can perform effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective care to women during all phases of labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret EFM (electronic fetal monitoring) tracings, and promptly report abnormalities.
• Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and other obstetric procedures.
• Administer medications, including oxytocin, epidural anesthesia support, and sedatives per hospital protocols.
• Perform IV insertions, phlebotomy, and manage conscious sedation in accordance with safety standards.
• Support patients and families through the labor process with emotional, physical, and educational care.
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities in compliance with hospital policy.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies at all times.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Maternal and Child Health experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience required.
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams in a high-acuity environment.
  
  

Required Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  
  

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active New York State (NYS) RN License – in good standing.
• Primary Source Verification of RN license and registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
