Engineering Manager / Lead – Battery Cell Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Battery Cell Manufacturing Engineering Manager/Lead to own and optimize end-to-end cell production processes. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader comfortable working in fast-paced, high-precision manufacturing environments and driving improvements through data, SPC, and automation.

Role Summary

Lead daily battery cell manufacturing operations and ensure stable, high-yield production flow into pack and container assembly. You will oversee process stability, quality, throughput, and data-driven continuous improvement across all stages of the cell line.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations for mixing, coating, calendaring, slitting, stacking/winding, formation, and testing
• Improve yield, scrap, OEE, and throughput using SPC, DOE, Lean, and 8D methodologies
• Work with downstream teams to resolve cell-related issues impacting pack or container builds
• Use analytics, MES data, and AI-based monitoring tools for drift prediction and anomaly detection
• Manage validation runs, process trials, and continuous improvements from cell → pack → container
• Strengthen SOPs, define process windows, and enhance quality control systems
• Troubleshoot issues quickly using data dashboards, digital logs, SQL/Python, or basic automation scripts

Ideal Qualifications

• Strong background in battery cell manufacturing or similar precision industries (semiconductor, coated films, chemical processing, automotive)
• Hands-on experience with coating, calendaring, slitting, electrode handling, formation/testing
• Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and thermal cell behavior and its impact downstream
• Proficiency with SPC, DOE, Cp/Cpk, and other statistical tools
• Comfortable with MES systems, analytics dashboards, SQL/Python, and digital process tools
• Familiarity with AI-based process monitoring tools is a plus
• Exposure to pack or container-level manufacturing is beneficial
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a structured, data-driven approach
