Freight Dispatcher

Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight transportation operations efficiently. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the scheduling, routing, and tracking of shipments to ensure timely delivery while maintaining excellent communication with carriers, drivers, and clients. Duties

• Coordinate freight dispatching by scheduling pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Monitor real-time GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure adherence to delivery schedules.
• Communicate clearly with drivers, carriers, and clients via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette and effective communication skills.
• Manage shipping & receiving documentation, including data entry into AS400 and other logistics platforms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
• Utilize analysis skills to evaluate transportation plans, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Oversee fleet management activities related to freight movement, including coordination with 3PL providers (third-party logistics) for outsourced shipping solutions.
• Maintain detailed dispatch logs, incident reports, and shipment records to support efficient operations and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment; familiarity with freight management is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, or equivalent platforms.
• Proficiency in using GPS technology, GIS tools, and data analysis to optimize routes and improve efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while demonstrating strong phone etiquette.
• Adept at data entry with high accuracy in platforms like AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and supply chain logistics.
• Ability to multitask effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
