What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at Price Industries?
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for operations. This role requires a proactive leader who can build strong supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive cost savings while maintaining quality and reliability.
You’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors to ensure purchasing aligns with company goals, timelines, and budget.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support business objectives and optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
- Manage vendor relationships, including sourcing, negotiation, performance evaluation, and compliance.
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and finance teams to forecast demand and ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with logistics to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other relevant data.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Support sustainability and ethical sourcing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with international sourcing and logistics is a plus.
- Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPM) is an asset.
