What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at PRICE ELECTRIC?
PRICE ELECTRIC is looking for an Equipment Operator to work on job sites across the Eastern Iowa area, responsible for maneuvering, controlling, and maintaining heavy machinery to dig, move, grade, and load materials on construction sites. This person is critical in site preparation, trenching, and demolition, working closely with crews to ensure projects are completed safely and to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate general construction equipment: excavators, skid loaders, motor trucks and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently for digging, lifting, and loading materials
- Dig trenches, foundations, and holes for pipes, cables, and structural footings. Grade terrain, clear land, and remove debris
- Perform daily pre-start inspections on the machine to ensure optimal, safe performance
- Adhere strictly to OSHA, local, and company safety protocols, including Ground Disturbance regulations, to prevent accidents
- Collaborate with project managers and crews to interpret blueprints and site plans
- Load and unload materials onto trucks or into designated areas
- Maintain daily activity logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records
Education and/or Experience
- 3-5 years of heavy equipment operation experience
- Clean & acceptable driving record
- Valid Class A CDL
- If an otherwise qualified candidate with a valid Driver License agrees to obtain a Class A CDL within the introductory period, the company may assist with CDL training and testing costs
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to read site plans and blueprints and work as a team player
- Commitment to following and embodying all safety policies and procedures
- Be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with strong hand eye coordination
- Maintain safe driving habits and clean driving record
Working Environment: This position requires working in the elements, up to and including all seasons and all indoor and outdoor environments. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when working in specific environments.
Physical Demands: The individual must have the ability to regularly lift 50 lbs, stand, walk, climb, squat, kneel, sit, use feet and hands for grasping, pushing and pulling.
