Summary
- Food Production Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of commercial food production equipment within the commissary.
- Ensures equipment is used in accordance with food safety, quality, and production standards; follows sanitation protocols; and contributes to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Operate a variety of commercial-grade food processing and packaging equipment (e.g., mixers, ovens, slicers, wrappers, kettles, fillers, sealers).
- Start-up, operate, and shut down equipment per manufacturer and company safety guidelines.
- Perform daily equipment checks; report malfunctions or safety concerns immediately to Maintenance or Supervisors.
- Follow food safety and quality procedures including proper handling, labeling, and tracking of products.
- Accurately complete production records and batch logs as required.
- Monitor production runs for accuracy, portioning, and consistency.
- Collaborate with Production and Sanitation to ensure changeovers and cleanups meet productivity and compliance standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization; comply with sanitation, GMP, and allergen control protocols.
- Support efforts to reduce waste, improve throughput, and meet production goals.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to PPE and lockout/tagout requirements.
- May assist with basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments if trained and authorized.
- Report any food safety, quality, or GMP concerns to Supervisors or FSQA immediately.
- Commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward learning.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or industrial equipment operation preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
- Ability to read and follow safety instructions, SOPs, and batch records.
- Food safety awareness and understanding of GMPs required.
