Senior IBM MQ Administrator (Contract-to-Hire)

We’re partnering with a major firm to hire a Senior IBM MQ Administrator who brings deep technical expertise and a strong foundation in messaging systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who can build, optimize, and modernize IBM MQ environments while collaborating across technical and business teams.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement robust IBM MQ solutions, including Multi-Instance Queue Managers and High Availability (HA) architectures
- Lead MQ deployments, driving automation and standardization initiatives
- Own middleware patching and upgrade activities across IBM MQ and IBM Application Connect Enterprise (ACE)
- Contribute to AWS cloud migration and modernization efforts
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning for complex MQ environments
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions
- Collaborate with global (onshore/offshore) teams
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support platform stability
What You Bring
- 10 years of experience in IBM MQ Administration
- Proven experience building IBM MQ environments from the ground up
- Strong understanding of messaging concepts and design patterns
- Expertise in High Availability and Disaster Recovery implementations
- Experience with MQ security (TLS, CHLAUTH, OAM)
- Solid Linux/Unix system administration skills
- Hands-on experience with shell scripting for automation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Nice to Have
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server integrations
- Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Splunk
- Working knowledge of Java
