What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at PRI Technology?
Mon-Thursday onsite, Fridays are remote!
Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Operations Leader to oversee the daily functions and long-term growth of a mid-size CPA firm. This pivotal role requires a proactive individual who excels in managing complex operations, driving profitability, and leading a newly formed team. As a Firm Operations Leader, you will be responsible for streamlining processes, enhancing client service delivery, and ensuring operational excellence across all departments. Your leadership will directly impact the firm’s efficiency, financial health, and strategic direction, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
What This Role Is Not
- Not a role that waits to be told what to do. You own the team's workflow and outcomes end-to-end, not just task assignments.
- Not administrative support. You lead people and drive how admin integrates with tax and the rest of the firm.
- Not a role where operational depth is optional. You need to know the tools and workflows (we are able to bring you up to speed).
- Not confined to one service line. Your team's work is embedded in tax compliance, tax advisory, etc. You need to understand how each line actually runs, not just administer around them.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop two Direct Reports. Directly lead, manage, and hold your team accountable.
- Own the client experience from first contact through onboarding and project completion, coordinating service delivery across the firm.
- Own Operational Support Across Service Lines. Support technical service delivery across compliance, advisory, and bookkeeping/accounting: tax processing workflow, IRS and government correspondence, tax form preparation support, and bookkeeping/accounting coordination — working hand-in-hand with each line's team, not around them.
- Support HR & Internal Operations. Partner with the firm's HR function to support firm health and internal operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, Management, or a related field preferred.
- 7 years of progressive management experience in a professional services environment.
- Previous experience in a CPA, accounting, legal, or consulting firm strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing office operations, HR, IT Coordination, and financial administration.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, billing, and vendor management.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
