What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respite Mentor position at Preventive Measures Programs, Inc?
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age, and at least three years older than an individual receiving services.
Education and Training: A high school diploma or GED.
Must submit to and pass criminal background check.
Must be CPR/First Aid Certified
Must pass pre-employment screening including drug scree and TB skin test
Must possess the ability to read and understand Plan of Care (POC) and directions for the care of others.
At least one-year experience working with children with behavioral and developmental disabilities.
Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
Must have a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Must demonstrate initiative, empathy, consistency and motivation while working with clients.
Require reasonable ability to deal with the public in a pleasant and efficient manner.
Must be capable of working with a variety of people.
Have good decision-making skills.
Must exhibit professionalism at all times.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Must demonstrate appropriateness in dress and behavior.
FUNCTIONS/OVERVIEW:
The Respite Care Worker will provide close supervision, educational activities, crafts and social skills to children in the respite program. The Respite Care Worker will provide safety and age-appropriate activities to youth, while following and supporting at all times the parent’s rules for the child. The Respite Care Worker will provide individualized, and coordination of services identified by each client’s Plan of Care.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
o Provide supervision and activities for youth from ages 4-18
o Provides services to clients as outlined in the Plan of Care
o Complete detailed progress notes for each visit.
o Provides recreational activities.
o Reports violation and abuse allegations to parents and/or Respite Care Supervisor.
o Maintains client confidentiality.
o Comply with rules/regulations according to agency guidelines, state and federal licensing and certification requirements.
o Practices preventive safety and health techniques.
o Maintains daily time for involvement with clients as scheduled.
o Maintains and timely submit accurate documentation of timesheet and progress notes.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
