School Protection Officer (SPO)

Overview
The School Protection Officer (SPO) plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors within the school premises. This position involves proactive surveillance, conflict management, and emergency response to ensure the safety of all individuals on campus. The SPO will collaborate with school administration and local law enforcement to implement security protocols and respond effectively to any incidents.

Duties

• Monitor school grounds and facilities through regular patrols and surveillance systems, including CCTV.
• Respond to emergencies, providing first aid and CPR as needed until professional medical assistance arrives.
• Enforce school policies and procedures related to safety and security.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to ensure a coordinated response to any threats or emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, observations, and actions taken during shifts.
• Participate in training sessions for first aid, CPR, surveillance techniques, firearms training, and other relevant security practices.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in law enforcement, military service, or security roles is preferred.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in emergency response is a plus.
• Familiarity with surveillance systems (CCTV) and physical security strategies.
• Strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
• Excellent observational skills with attention to detail for identifying potential security risks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and external agencies.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. The School Protection Officer is dedicated to fostering a safe educational environment while supporting the well-being of the school community.
