Prevention Initiatives Coordinator for Prevention Works!VT

Position Summary: The Prevention Initiatives Coordinator supports Prevention Works!VT's mission is to strengthen Vermont's prevention workforce through workforce development, policy education, advocacy, and statewide collaboration. This position assists in planning professional development opportunities, monitors emerging prevention issues and legislative activity, and develops resources that support prevention professionals and partners across Vermont.

Essential Responsibilities:

Workforce Development

• Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing statewide trainings, conferences, webinars, Lunch & Learns, networking opportunities, and related event logistics and programming.
• Support the development of educational resources and workforce development materials.
• Identify emerging workforce needs and prevention trends.

Communications & Collaboration

• Attend standing meetings such as PW!VT Staff Meeting, Steering Committee Meeting etc.
• Contribute to newsletters, website content, educational materials, and advocacy resources.
• Translate policy and prevention information into practical resources for partners.
• Represent Prevention Works!VT on committees, workgroups, and collaborative initiatives.
• Foster collaboration among prevention professionals and statewide partners.

Policy & Advocacy

• Support advocacy initiatives, including Prevention Day and legislative education efforts.
• Monitor emerging prevention research, policy trends, and public health issues.
• Build relationships with legislators, state agencies, advocacy partners, and prevention professionals.
• Develop policy and advocacy resources for the prevention workforce.
• Collaboration with PW!VT’s Policy and Advocacy Specialist and other contractors
• Facilitation of PW!VT’s policy work groups including Alcohol Policy and Cannabis Education and Policy Workgroup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Three or more years of experience in prevention, public health, policy, advocacy, or a related field.
• Knowledge of prevention principles and Vermont's legislative process.
• Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively.

Work Environment: This is a full-time remote position based in Vermont. In-person attendance is required for Prevention Works!VT-hosted conferences, trainings, networking opportunities, meetings, and other organizational events. Occasional evening hours and statewide travel are required.

Pay: $29.75 - $35.00 per hour
