Position Overview:
*This is a Part Time position in the Philadelphia, PA region.
The Prevention Specialist is responsible for facilitating, implementing and evaluating programs and strategies by providing school-based prevention programming in K-12 schools for students and the adults who care for them. This role involves working closely with schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, and local government agencies to promote awareness, education, and healthy lifestyle choices. The specialist will focus on prevention education programming in classrooms, assemblies and other opportunities within schools and the larger communities we serve to reduce the risk of substance use and its negative impacts. Individuals with lived experience, including those in recovery, are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
- Minimum requirement: High school diploma. A college degree is preferred.
- Working knowledge of the disease model of addiction.
- Certification in substance use prevention (e.g., Prevention Specialist Certification) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of substance use prevention strategies, mental health, and community health.
- Experience working with youth, families, and community organizations.
- Preferably in long-term healthy recovery from substance use.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of local resources and referral services for individuals affected by substance use.
- Ability to travel to various school districts within the Philadelphia, PA region.
