Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by checking vital signs and observing for any changes or concerns
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Support patients with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts, ensuring proper safety protocols
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with privacy standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's, or developmental disabilities
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being and social engagement
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring
- Strong understanding of medication administration and HIPAA compliance standards
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and autism support strategies
- CPR and First Aid certification to respond effectively during emergencies
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
- Ability to follow detailed care plans accurately while maintaining flexibility for individual needs
- Capacity to handle physically demanding tasks while maintaining compassion and professionalism
