Prestonwood Country Club, a premier 54-hole facility located in Cary, NC, is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Assistant Superintendent to join our team on the Fairways Golf Course. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that has hosted the SAS Championship (PGA Tour Champions) for the past 24 years — with the 25th anniversary of the event taking place this October.
About the Course:
- Greens: A1/A4 Bentgrass
- Tees, Fairways, Rough: 419 Bermuda grass
Position Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent to manage the daily operations of the golf course, focusing on the highest standards of course conditioning, staff management, and professional development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a passion for turfgrass management.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent to manage the daily operations of the golf course, focusing on the highest standards of course conditioning, staff management, and professional development. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct daily crew activities and course setup
- Calibrate and apply chemical and fertilizer applications
- Maintain accurate records for all applications
- Train and supervise staff to ensure efficiency and quality
- Assist with budgeting, planning, and inventory control
- Promote and ensure safety and environmental sustainability practices
Qualifications:
- 2- or 4-year degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or related field
- Prior golf course experience preferred, but not required
- NC Pesticide License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in operating and training staff on all GCM equipment
- Valid driver’s license
- Must pass background check and drug screening
