Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program sufficient to meet the volunteer needs of the patients and families.
- Manage the entire volunteer lifecycle—from onboarding and training to supervision and recognition—ensuring volunteers are well-supported and motivated. Recruits, educates, and selects volunteer from at least three recruitment sessions a year.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules, assignments, and activities to align with organizational needs and project goals. Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team.
- Deliver engaging training sessions and workshops to equip volunteers with the skills necessary for their roles, emphasizing social work principles and organizational policies.
- Maintains monthly statistics. Records services of volunteers, including the type of service performed and the time worked.
- Supervise volunteer teams during events, programs, or outreach activities, providing guidance and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Reevaluate volunteer program as necessary.
- Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
- Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
- Collaborate with internal teams on management projects related to volunteer programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback collection implement continuous improvements in training & development initiatives.
- Foster a positive environment that encourages leadership development among volunteers by mentoring emerging leaders within the community.
- Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities.
Experience
- Proven experience in volunteer management or social work roles with demonstrated supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong background in recruiting via campus channels or social media platforms; familiarity with social media management tools is preferred.
- Experience using Salesforce or Raiser's Edge for data management, reporting, or donor/volunteer tracking is highly desirable.
- Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences confidently.
- Prior involvement in training & development programs tailored for volunteers or staff members.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with a track record of supervising teams or managing projects effectively.
- Knowledge of social work principles combined with experience in social service environments is advantageous.
- Exceptional management skills complemented by the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
