What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cabinet Engineer position at Prestige Woodworks?
Overview
Prestige Woodworks is looking for a Cabinet Engineer to join our team.
We build high-end custom cabinetry, but we care just as much about how we work as what we build. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well, wants to be part of a team, and genuinely enjoys getting better at what they do.
What You’ll Do
- Engineer custom cabinetry using Mozaik
- Turn approved designs into accurate, buildable cabinet plans
- Specify dimensions, materials, hardware, construction details, and machining
- Work closely with our designer, project manager, shop, and installation crews
- Catch potential problems before they reach production or the jobsite
- Troubleshoot engineering and construction issues as they arise
- Continually improve our engineering standards, systems, and processes
Before You Engineer
We don’t want our engineers designing cabinets from behind a computer without understanding how we actually build them.
Depending on your previous experience, expect to spend your first several weeks or months training throughout the company, including:
- Working in our cabinet shop
- Going into the field with our installation crews
- Working alongside our designer
- Learning our construction methods, standards, materials, hardware, and processes
The goal is simple: understand how we design, build, and install cabinets before being responsible for engineering them.
What We’re Looking For
Experience with cabinetry, engineering, woodworking, or manufacturing is valuable. Experience with Mozaik is strongly preferred.
But we’re equally interested in finding someone who:
- Pays attention to the details
- Takes ownership of their work
- Communicates clearly
- Works well with others
- Solves problems instead of passing them along
- Is willing to learn throughout the entire company
- Wants to continually improve themselves and the way their job is done
Our Culture
Kaizen—continuous improvement—is a major part of how Prestige operates.
We aren’t looking for someone who simply wants to engineer cabinets the same way for the next ten years.
We’re looking for someone who wants to help us build a better cabinet company every day.
