Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for Emergency Department outpatient encounters
- Review provider documentation to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant coding
- Apply correct modifiers and ensure proper charge capture
- Meet productivity and quality benchmarks while maintaining coding accuracy
- Follow official coding guidelines, CMS regulations, and payer-specific requirements
- Identify documentation gaps and work with providers or internal teams as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Stay current on coding updates, regulations, and best practices related to ED outpatient coding
- Active coding certification (CPC, CCS, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3–5 years of Emergency Department outpatient coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Experience coding high-volume ED encounters
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Proficiency with EHR systems and encoder tools
- CCS credential
- Experience with multiple payers, including Medicare and Medicaid
- Prior remote coding experience
- Familiarity with audit processes and quality reviews
- $45/hour pay rate
