Position Purpose

Coordinates and executes activities for the manufacture of plastic injection mold tooling.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

·        Construct, adapt, and modify plastic injection mold tooling.

·        Create initial molds based on specifications from design team, blueprints, or schematics.

·        Confer with quality control, material, manufacturing, and other department personnel to provide technical support.

·        Interpret engineering drawings and facilitate correction of errors on drawings and documents identified during manufacturing operations.

• Interpret quality plans and inspect as directed.
• Inspection by measuring dimensions, such as length, height, and distance, between reference points, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, and CMM, to ensure product meets specifications.
• Be able to accurately document and record Inspection results.
• Perform incoming inspections on raw materials and finished parts.
• Work with close tolerances.
• Conduct quality control testing before mold is sampled.
• Be able to identify Non-Conformances and generate NCR forms.
• Lead quarantine activities when Non-Conformance product/material is identified.
• Communicate with Quality supervisor/manager, shift supervisor, and company managers when non-conforming processes and/or product are identified.
• Carries out all job duties, maintaining safe work habits and GMP guidelines.

Qualifications

Required Education/certification:

·        Successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program, technical school training program, or company-provided training program required.

Required Experience:

·        Thorough understanding of machinery and mold creation.

·        Understands general part drawings and tolerances.

·        Knowledge of the use of measuring instruments: caliper, micrometer, and drop gauges.

·        Thorough understanding of applicable safety rules.

Required Knowledge:

• Strong proficiency of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• Basic Math & Geometry/Trigonometry.

• Strong typing and computer application skills.
• Ability to assist and support others.
• Good judgment and decision making.
• Taking initiative and/or leadership on projects and strong project management skills.
