About the Role
Prestige Academic Prep is seeking an experienced SAT Math Tutor to work with high school students preparing for the SAT.
This role is ideal for someone who not only understands high-level math, but also knows how to teach it strategically for the SAT, including effective use of Desmos for problem-solving and efficiency. Tutors should be able to break down complex concepts, recognize test patterns, and help students improve both accuracy and speed.
This is not a general math tutoring role—candidates must have experience with test prep and score improvement strategies.
What You’ll Do
- Provide one-on-one SAT Math tutoring sessions
- Teach key SAT math concepts, strategies, and shortcuts
- Use Desmos as a core instructional tool to solve and verify problems
- Show students how to leverage Desmos for efficiency and accuracy on the digital SAT
- Identify student weaknesses and create targeted improvement plans
- Help students improve pacing, accuracy, and confidence
- Review full-length practice tests and analyze missed questions
- Track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
Minimum Requirements
- Experience tutoring SAT Math or standardized test prep
- Strong math background (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus)
- Comfortable with math concepts through Calculus
- Working knowledge of Desmos and ability to teach students how to use it effectively
- Ability to clearly explain complex concepts in a structured, student-friendly way
- Experience working with high school students
- Ability to work independently and adapt instruction
- Reliable transportation to Hagerstown location
- Must pass a background check
Highly Preferred (Stand-Out Candidates Will Have)
- Proven track record of improving SAT Math scores
- Teaching certification in Math or related field
- Deep familiarity with the College Board digital SAT (Bluebook)
- Advanced Desmos strategies (sliders, graphing systems, function modeling, etc.)
- Experience creating targeted study plans based on practice test analysis
Schedule
- Part-time, afternoons/evenings and some weekends
- In-person sessions
