Position Summary
The Resource Specialist is responsible for identifying viable and appropriate kinship permanency options and/or kinship supports for youth who are not able to live with their biological parent or whose rights were terminated. This position will research a youth’s ecology to seek potential options including interviews, documentation research, and file history. This position may require exploring the family of origin and other meaningful connections while utilizing skills to gain information regarding possible placements/supports. The position will collaborate with the treatment team to ensure that accurate information is gathered in a timely manner. The Resource Specialist will be involved with initial linkage between youth, viable/appropriate kinship placement/support, and the program.
Essential Responsibilities
- Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships and communicates regularly with all professionals to assist in targeted recruitment of a potential foster/adoptive family.
- Interviews the youth and individuals who have knowledge of the child and/or history as appropriate.
- Explores terminated parental rights for possible changes in circumstances which may allow for this option of family to be reassessed.
- Maintains regular contact with the youth's placing agent and Pressley Ridge representative.
- Maintains record/log of activities including entries into the youth's permanent record according to procedure.
- Detects, corrects and communicates any safety concerns that arise.
