What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media & Content Manager position at Pressed Cafe?
Social Media & Content Manager
About the Role:
Pressed Cafe is looking for a Social Media & Content Manager with exceptional creative instincts, strong visual taste, and a genuine obsession with what’s happening in social, food, hospitality, design, and culture.
We’re looking for someone who knows the difference between content that simply fills a feed and content that builds a brand. Someone who understands what’s current without chasing every trend, can make food look incredible without making it feel overly produced, and has an instinct for what feels elevated, relevant, and distinctly Pressed.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be in our cafes regularly capturing content, shooting and editing video, photographing food, finding stories, and bringing the energy of Pressed to life online.
Your voice won’t just live on social. You’ll also fully own Guest Relations, making sure every guest who reaches out online hears back from a thoughtful human, not a form response. You’ll partner with Operations to resolve concerns and spot patterns in guest feedback so recurring issues reach the right people and help make our restaurants better.
You’ll work closely with our Director of Creative, who leads the visual identity and creative direction of Pressed, and our Director of Marketing, who drives the broader marketing strategy, calendar, campaigns, deadlines, and analytics.
Your job is simple: make Pressed exceptional on social and make sure our guests feel heard.
What You’ll Own:
Social Media & Content
- Own the day-to-day presence of Pressed across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and emerging platforms.
- Concept, shoot, edit, write, and publish compelling social content, from beautifully shot food and lifestyle content to fast, culturally relevant iPhone video.
- Create short-form video from start to finish, including concepts, shooting, editing, audio, captions, and copy.
- Spend meaningful time in our cafes finding the people, food, moments, and stories worth sharing.
- Bring a strong eye for photography, styling, composition, typography, pacing, and overall visual presentation.
- Stay deeply current on social trends, emerging formats, creators, cultural shifts, and what other great food and lifestyle brands are doing.
- Know which trends make sense for Pressed, how to make them our own, and which ones to leave alone.
- Manage and engage our social community across comments, DMs, tags, mentions, and user-generated content.
- Help identify and build relationships with relevant creators and influencers.
- Understand what content is performing and use those insights to keep getting better.
Guest Relations & Voice of the Guest
- Fully own Pressed Cafe’s email Guest Relations and Zendesk communication from initial contact through resolution.
- Respond thoughtfully and personally. We believe there should be a real human being on the other side of every guest conversation.
- Partner with restaurant and Operations leadership to investigate concerns and ensure appropriate follow-through.
- Coordinate refunds, gift cards, and other guest recovery when appropriate.
- Identify patterns in guest feedback and make sure recurring issues reach Operations and leadership so they can inform training, service, and operational improvements.
- Protect the Pressed voice in every interaction: warm, personal, accountable, and never robotic.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re someone who:
- Has hands-on experience creating social content for a brand, organization, or meaningful audience.
- Has a strong portfolio that demonstrates your visual point of view and work you’ve personally created.
- Has exceptional visual taste and knows when something feels polished, dated, forced, off-brand, or simply not good enough.
- Is highly comfortable shooting and editing short-form video and can create beautiful content without needing a professional production every time.
- Understands Instagram and TikTok deeply and is genuinely curious about what’s coming next.
- Is an excellent writer who can move naturally between a great caption and a thoughtful response to an unhappy guest.
- Is organized, dependable, resilient, low-ego, and comfortable receiving direct creative feedback.
- Takes initiative. You notice what needs to happen and make it happen.
- Wants to be in the restaurants, around the food, around the people, and close to what’s actually happening.
Experience with food, restaurants, hospitality, consumer, or lifestyle brands is a plus, but great work will get our attention regardless of where you created it.
*Portfolio Required*
Please include a portfolio or examples of your work with your application. We want to see social accounts you’ve contributed to and, most importantly, content you’ve personally created.
Short-form video, photography, storytelling, copywriting, or anything else that shows us how you see the world creatively.
Follower count isn’t everything. Years of experience aren’t everything. Taste, creativity, judgment, and initiative matter.
