Position Summary

The Account Executive plays a key supporting role across client accounts, helping to execute government relations, advocacy, and communications strategies. This position is ideal for someone who has experience in or around the legislative process and is eager to apply those skills in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Account Executives support senior team members in research, message development, stakeholder engagement, and project management — contributing directly to the success of lobbying, public affairs, and coalition initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Client Service & Project Execution
  • Support the day-to-day management of multiple client accounts and advocacy campaigns.
  • Draft client deliverables including policy briefs, stakeholder memos, meeting notes, talking points, and presentations.
  • Track project timelines and deliverables; ensure internal coordination across teams.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and project partners as assigned.
  • Legislative & Policy Support
  • Monitor and analyze local and state legislation, ordinances, and agency actions relevant to client interests.
  • Prepare legislative updates, bill summaries, and reports for internal and external use.
  • Support senior advocates in preparing materials and testimony for legislative or regulatory meetings.
  • Conduct research on policy issues, elected officials, and key stakeholders.
  • Coalition Building & Advocacy Campaigns
  • Assist in building and managing stakeholder coalitions, including outreach to business, labor, community, and advocacy organizations.
  • Support planning and execution of advocacy events, press conferences, and digital campaigns.
  • Coordinate partner communications, including drafting newsletters, toolkits, and call-to-action materials.
  • Communications & Media Support
  • Draft press releases, op-eds, and digital content supporting client and firm initiatives.
  • Manage and update media and stakeholder lists.
  • Track media coverage and compile reports for clients.
  • Firmwide Support
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and process improvement.
  • Represent the firm professionally at external events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in public affairs, government, or communications, preferably including experience in a legislative or political setting.
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with elected officials, staff, clients, and coalition partners.
  • Familiarity with California’s state and local government structure and policy environment preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within California and to Washington, DC (~50% of time).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and client portfolio responsibilities.
