Job Overview
The HR Generalist will be responsible for recruiting and hiring activities in their assigned portfolio and entering and maintaining data in the HRIS system. The HR Generalist will also manage the benefit education and enrollment of new hires; they may assist with workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance. They will also administer the employee recognition plan. Enthusiasm, excellent communication, teamwork and attention to detail are a must.
Duties
1. Responsible for all stages of the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process including sourcing, screening, and assisting with new hire documentation.
a. Posts and tracks job requisitions.
b. Reviews employment applications and evaluates work history, education and training, job skills, compensation requirements, and other qualifications of applicants.
c. Conducts initial phone interview as needed.
d. Conducts regular follow-up meetings with hiring managers to keep the hiring process moving forward and to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.
g. Track, coordinate, and conduct all new hire processing procedures including paperwork, background investigations, and drug screenings.
h. Enter new hire information into the HRIS system (ADP).
2. Oversee Benefit Administration: conducting employee meetings to educate them on their options, enroll participants via HRIS, audit benefit bills, manage mid-year changes, answer questions, and assist in annual open enrollment process.
3. May assist with preparation of first reports of injury for workers: compensation, keep files of employee accidents or injuries on the job. Reach out to injured workers to follow-up on appointments and status of claim and injury.
4. Prepare transition paperwork for terminating employees.
5. Respond to unemployment and employment verification requests.
6. Manage the employee recognition program by sending out cards and anniversary pins.
7. Create photo ID badges,
8. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in Business Administration and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Human Resources field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
1. Knowledge of laws and regulations in the Human Resources Field.
2. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite; experience with on-line HRIS and Payroll systems is required, and ADP Workforce now is desired.
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Must have an extensive knowledge of and experience with office protocol and procedures.
4. Must be detailed orientated.
5. A high degree of tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality is required when dealing with applicants, employees, and coworkers.
