Title: Transfer Driver
Functional Area: Pecan and Montgomery Warehouses
Reports to: Support Services Manager
Position Description: The primary purposes of the position are:
- to bring all raw materials and supplies from Pecan warehouse to Montgomery location
- to take all finished goods from Montgomery warehouse to Pecan warehouse.
This is accomplished by following the transfer orders placed by the Shift Supervisors and by utilizing commercial motor vehicles on the public roadway.
Transfer Driver Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all job functions in a safe manner.
- Operate all types of forklifts; stand-up, sit down, and order pickers.
- Operate yard truck with 53’ trailers on public roadways.
- Operate 26’ box truck as required.
- Locates materials and supplies in the warehouse using various production order information in the computer systems.
- Pull raw materials and finished goods with accuracy and efficiency.
- Load, adjust and operate shrink-wrap and banding machine.
- Process shipments into operator scan gun system.
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts and pallet jacks. Transfer finished product from Montgomery warehouse to the proper locations in the Pecan warehouse.
- Transfer raw materials and supplies from Pecan warehouse to Montgomery warehouse.
- Deliver parts, supplies, and miscellaneous purchases to their respective departments.
Key Competencies:
- Performing all job functions in a safe manner, follow and enforce all TRIDENT policies and procedures.
- Leading housekeeping efforts and always maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Identifying and immediately communicating personnel and safety issues to the Shift Supervisor and assisting with investigations and resolutions of the issues if needed.
- Communicating and working with Stake Flag Department personnel to ensure an appropriate quantity and quality of raw materials is delivered to the Stake Flag Department as needed.
- Accurate and complete reporting of production and quality data both manually and in computer systems.
- Reporting any continuous improvement opportunities to the Shift Supervisor.
- Moving materials as needed using forklifts or overhead cranes.
Preferred Requirements:
- Excellent safety and attendance record.
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-class A)
- Ability to work varied shifts, and report on time for scheduled shifts and follow company attendance policies.
- Possesses strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Possesses basic knowledge in math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Possesses basic computer skills.
- Possesses basic problem-solving skills.
- Understands production rates and production schedules.
- Ability to balance and achieve results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost Reduction
- Must have the ability to complete two or more tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision and maintain a working and up-to-date knowledge of products and services.
- Must be able to handle self in a professional manner with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to take responsibility for self and team.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to continually bend, stoop, crouch, reach above shoulder, use arms, wrists, grasp and squeeze with hands, access constricted spaces, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to dusty or dirty ambient conditions.
- Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to hot or cold ambient conditions.
- Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to mild chemical irritants.
- Working knowledge of material handling equipment and commercial vehicles.
- Excellent forklift skills with the ability to safely move pallets of material into storage racks.
- Ability to use an overhead crane to safely move products and machine parts with no damage.
Training:
- Training would be a mixture of online training on safety, quality, and production procedures along with on-the-job training conducted by an experienced Transfer Driver.
- Additional training would be provided as needed by the Support Services Manager.
- Training duration would normally be 1 month.
