Position Summary
The Preschool Director oversees all daily operations of the preschool, ensuring compliance with Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Broward County Child Care Licensing regulations. This role provides leadership in curriculum development, staff management, family engagement, and financial operations while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children ages 2–5.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Curriculum Management
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood best practices.
- Monitor classrooms for quality instruction, child engagement, and safety.
- Ensure all state and county childcare licensing standards are met, including compliance with F.A.C. Chapter 65C-22.001–22.012 and Broward County Ordinance Chapter 7.
- Maintain required documentation such as attendance, health records, staff training logs, and inspection reports.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise preschool teachers and support staff.
- Ensure all personnel meet state licensing requirements, including background checks and staff credentialing.
- Maintain staff-to-child ratios as required by Florida DCF regulations.
- Conduct regular evaluations and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
Operations, Licensing, & Compliance
- Hold and maintain a valid Florida Director Credential (Level I, II, or Advanced).
- Oversee all DCF and Broward County licensing compliance, including annual inspections, fire safety, sanitation, and health requirements.
- Manage the preschool’s operating budget, enrollment, and tuition billing.
- Ensure facility safety, cleanliness, and compliance with Section 402.305, Florida Statutes.
Family & Community Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for parents and guardians, promoting strong family-school partnerships.
- Conduct orientations, conferences, and community outreach events.
- Promote the preschool within the community to maintain full enrollment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in early childhood education, including at least 1 year in a leadership or administrative role.
- Valid Florida Director Credential issued by DCF (Level I or higher).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of Florida DCF licensing standards and Broward County child care rules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with coursework in Early Childhood Education or Administration.
- Familiarity with faith-based or community preschool operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with budget management, staff scheduling, and family engagement.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 annually (commensurate with education and experience).
