Building Maintenance Manager Job Overview:

The Building Maintenance Manager works with the Office Manager, the Pastor and the Session Properties Committee and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Be primary person to maintain various building systems and work the contractors that maintain those systems including HVAC, Heat, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Fire Suppression, Fire Extinguishers, telephone, internet, drainage, roof, sump pumps, landscape, electrical, plumbing, custodial, and alike.
  • Develop and manage a maintenance program for each of the building systems.
  • Report any issues with the building and grounds to the Officer Manager, Pastor and Properties Committee.
  • Perform small repairs as they are capable and small tasks to help with church operations.
  • Be available to attend to emergencies as required day, evening, night and weekend (receiving premium pay during these times).
  • Be responsive to building tenant maintenance issues and work to problem solve solutions.
  • Monitor larger repairs and installations by the church contractors.
  • Report emergent issues as needed and write a monthly report of activities which will be presented to Session.

Hours: Hours will fluctuate based on issues, emergencies, needs and time of year. The Manager should anticipate a minimum of 5 hours a week of work, specifically visiting the building twice a week for general monitoring and to check in with the Church Office Manager. More hours will be spent working with contractors or resolving emergent issues.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate would have a background in building maintenance, engineering, or specific mechanical trades, and experience with older/historic buildings. Willingness to collaborate in a team oriented manner with kindness, integrity, and attention to detail.
