Director, Presbyterian Children's Center

Full-Time | 40 hrs/week

About Us

Presbyterian Children's Center (PCC) is a ministry of Longview United Presbyterian Church (LUPC), a welcoming community pursuing spiritual growth and faithful witness through Christ's love by God's grace. We're looking for a passionate, experienced leader to guide our early childhood program and help our children and families thrive.

The Role

As Director of PCC, you'll oversee every aspect of our center — from licensing and compliance to staff supervision, curriculum, budgeting, and family relations. You'll report to the PCC Board of Directors and the Pastor/Head of Staff, and you'll be the driving force behind a program that's educational, nurturing, and rooted in our church's mission.

What You'll Do

Licensing & Compliance

  • Secure and maintain the center's annual state license
  • Ensure the program, staff, and facility meet Texas Minimum Standards at all times
  • Coordinate fire and sanitation inspections and ensure timely compliance
  • Oversee regular emergency drills and documentation
  • Maintain four-star status with Texas Rising Star

Staff Leadership

  • Hire (with Board approval), onboard, and train staff
  • Lead regular staff meetings covering curriculum, performance, and problem-solving
  • Organize professional development opportunities
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and class assignments
  • Keep personnel files complete and current (certifications, background checks, training records, etc.)

Program Oversight

  • Manage day-to-day center operations
  • Guide curriculum development across classrooms
  • Partner with the parent volunteer group on events and special activities
  • Oversee enrollment and manage classroom inventory/equipment needs

Family & Community Relations

  • Support teachers with individual children's needs and referrals
  • Build relationships with other early childhood professionals
  • Serve as a positive, visible presence for staff and families
  • Foster strong school–home communication

Financial Management

  • Prepare the annual budget for Board approval
  • Handle tuition collection and reminders
  • Coordinate payroll info with the Financial Administrator
  • Manage purchasing within budget and process reimbursements/invoices

Communication

  • Keep parents informed through newsletters and updates
  • Attend and report at PCC Board meetings
  • Serve as liaison between staff and the Board
  • Coordinate with LUPC staff at regular staff meetings
  • Promote PCC within the congregation and wider community

What You'll Need

Education — one of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field, or
  • Associate's Degree in a related field 6 college credit hours in business management 2 years of licensed child-care experience, or
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential 6 credit hours in business management 2 years of licensed child-care experience, or
  • 60 college credit hours (incl. 9 hrs in Child Development/ECE, 6 hrs in business management) 2 years of licensed child-care experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree 12 credit hours in Child Development/ECE 6 credit hours in business management 1 year of licensed child-care experience, or
  • Day Care Administrator's Credential 2 years of licensed child-care experience, or
  • 3 years of licensed child-care experience 9 credit hours in Child Development/ECE 9 credit hours in business management

(5 CEUs may substitute for every 3 academic credit hours)

Working Conditions

  • On-site at the PCC/church campus
  • Regular school hours, with occasional evening Board meetings
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and participate in emergency evacuations within 3 minutes
  • Some local travel required
  • Background check, fingerprinting, and criminal history report required prior to hire
