Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly operational, hands-on, and adaptable VP of Product Development to join our growing team. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing the product management team, overseeing product development timelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams especially across supply chain. As a key player in our fast-paced environment, the VP of Product Development will filter day-to-day operations, drive decision-making processes, and ensure product development projects stay on track while fostering strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders. This person will serve as a crucial right hand to the leadership team, particularly supporting the COO, and will be involved in a variety of operational tasks as the business grows and evolves.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the product development team overseeing timelines and cross-functional collaboration with marketing, creative, innovation and supply chain team. 
  • Project Management: Oversee product management team to ensure all product development projects are executed efficiently and effectively, troubleshooting issues as they arise. Work in collaboration with each development department director. Empower directors to drive projects forward and determine points of escalation. 
  • Operational Leadership: Help streamline and filter day-to-day operations to allow senior leaders to focus on high-level business growth and strategy. Work collaboratively with supply chain team in transition from product development to commercialization. 
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with COO on contract negotiations and vendor relationships. Be the first line of defense in resolving internal operations and collaborating with other executives.
  • Product Development Oversight: Prioritize and manage current product development projects across the brand. Maintain a hands-on role in managing and executing the product roadmap.
  • Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, with a particular focus on ensuring the flow of information and fostering partnerships.
  • Cultural Integration: Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless integration into the culture, understanding team dynamics and contributing to fostering a collaborative and adaptable environment.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist COO in the development of the company’s 5-10 year business plan and other strategic initiatives, ensuring that products and processes align with company goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in current processes and contribute to the development and execution of systems that will support continued growth.


Qualifications:

  • Hands-On Product Management and Product Development Experience: Significant experience in product management, particularly with skin care, body care, or hair care products.
  • Operational Expertise: Strong operational mindset with the ability to be flexible, and adaptable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to guide and coach teams through complex projects and foster collaboration across cross-functional teams. Experience managing teams in a high-growth business.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and executives.
  • Cultural Fit: A highly collaborative individual who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and can adapt to a company that is in a constant state of growth and change.


Work Schedule:

  • On-site in our West Hollywood, CA office.
  • Occasional travel (approx. 10% of time, 2-3 days per month)
