Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional School Security Officer to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school year.
Responsibilities
The School Security Officer will patrol and monitor assigned areas of school buildings, grounds, and parking lots to deter, detect, report, and address violations of law and/or school policy. Additional duties include:
- Identifying and investigating unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities
- Greeting visitors, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, and verifying proper identification
- Communicating effectively with visitors and providing directions as needed
- Collaborating with school administrators and officials to address serious student offenses and law violations
- Supporting staff and administrators during crisis and emergency situations
- Adhering to the school schedule and maintaining punctuality for work and meetings
- Building and sustaining positive, professional relationships with colleagues, staff, and supervisors
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum age of 25
- High school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable relevant experience
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with personnel at all levels and the general public
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment, in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws
- Demonstrated customer service excellence and professional communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to operate wireless technology at client-specific sites
- Ability to respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and heat
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk on various surfaces for extended periods
- Act 235 certification preferred
Compensation
Salary is negotiable based on certifications and experience.
