Automotive Clear Coat Technician – Full-Time Position
Premium Rock is an innovative manufacturer that creates digitally printed wall panels and surfaces for RV, residential, and commercial exteriors. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Clear Coat Technician to support finishing operations by applying high-quality clear coat finishes to RV wall panels in a modern manufacturing environment. Positions are available on both 1st and 2nd shifts, with 2nd shift currently being the most critical hiring priority.
Position Overview
The Automotive Clear Coat Technician is responsible for preparing surfaces, applying automotive-grade clear coats, and performing finish correction processes to achieve high-quality cosmetic and protective finishes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products meet appearance, durability, and quality standards prior to shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare RV wall panels for finishing, including cleaning and surface preparation
- Apply automotive clear coat using spray equipment and approved finishing techniques
- Monitor coating application to ensure proper coverage, thickness, and finish quality
- Perform cut, buff, and polishing processes to achieve required gloss and surface standards
- Inspect finished panels for defects such as runs, orange peel, contamination, or imperfections
- Perform touch-ups, finish corrections, and RV panel repairs as needed
- Perform onsite repair work at customer or production location when required
- Maintain spray equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and safe operating condition
- Follow mixing ratios, curing procedures, and manufacturer specifications for coatings
- Work closely with production and quality teams to meet production schedules
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental guidelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in automotive paint, clear coat application, or collision/refinish work preferred
- Knowledge of spray guns, paint systems, and finishing equipment
- Experience with sanding, cut and buff, and polishing techniques
- Strong attention to detail and finish quality standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment
- Must have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs.)
- Frequent bending, reaching, and material handling
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirators and protective equipment
