SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Manager leads all procurement, inventory, warehouse, and material operations for the company, ensuring materials, vendors, and subcontractors are sourced cost-effectively and delivered on time. This role builds and manages systems that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support project execution and company growth.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Leads and performs all purchasing functions across the company, including materials, equipment, tools, office supplies, and capital purchases.
- Develops and executes procurement strategies that balance cost, availability, and delivery timelines.
- Establishes, maintains, and manages an approved vendor list.
- Sources and vets vendors in new and existing markets.
- Negotiates pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers and service providers.
- Acts as the company representative in vendor negotiations and relationship management.
- Identifies and implements cost-saving opportunities and purchasing efficiencies.
- Establishes scalable procurement workflows to support company growth.
- Coordinates purchasing activities across departments to leverage company-wide buying power.
Subcontractor Management
- Sources, evaluates, and manages subcontractor relationships.
- Develops, negotiates, and administers subcontractor agreements and contracts.
- Partners with Project Managers to monitor subcontractor performance.
- Addresses subcontractor performance issues and facilitates resolution.
Inventory Management
- Owns inventory strategy and management across all company locations, including; Warehouse, Company vehicles (truck stock), Trailers, and Jobsites.
- Oversees tracking and reporting of customer-furnished materials.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepares and presents reports on purchasing activity, market conditions, and cost trends.
- Develops and maintains procurement and inventory performance metrics.
- Continuously evaluates and improves procurement, inventory, and logistics systems.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervises warehouse staff and related roles.
- Provides direction and oversight to site coordinators and logistics-related personnel.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Project Managers, Field Operations, and leadership.
Other Duties
- Coordinates removal, return, or disposal of surplus materials.
- Assists with warehouse and logistics operations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- In addition to the above, other required qualifications for this role are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related field.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, negotiations, and contracts.
- Experience leading and developing a responsive and high‑performing team.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and supply chain principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn company systems and software.
- Travel occasionally
- Preferred qualifications are:
- Experience in construction, electrical, or related industry.
- Experience managing warehouse operations and inventory systems.
- Experience with subcontractor sourcing and management.
- Demonstrated success in building or improving procurement systems and processes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, lift, talk, hear, see, reach, grasp, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift to 15 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The employee performs the essential functions of this job in a combination of office, warehouse, and jobsite environments. Occasional travel to job site is required.
