What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Systems Administrator position at Premier Truck Rental?
RESPONSIBILITIES
- System Administration:
- Lead the design, installation, and maintenance of server and network systems (Linux/Windows servers, storage, cloud environments, network infrastructure, etc.).
- Monitor and ensure the stability, security, and performance of infrastructure systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control systems, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Leadership:
- Ensure tasks are completed, monitor progress, and ensure the timely completion of projects.
- Develop and enforce best practices and processes to improve team efficiency, security, and system performance.
- Infrastructure Planning & Strategy:
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
- Assess new technologies and make recommendations for improvements or new system implementations.
- Ensure the organization's IT infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and future-proof.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement, monitor, and manage security measures for infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Lead efforts to conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and system patching.
- Drive towards security excellence to better protect the company against threats.
- Maintain backup systems and disaster recovery plans, ensuring minimal downtime in case of system failure.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (development, support, operations) to ensure systems meet business requirements.
- Provide advanced-level support to internal teams for escalated technical issues.
- Coordinate and collaborate with vendors, contractors, and external partners for third-party services and solutions.
- MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 7 years of experience in system administration, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
- Proven experience with system, network, and server administration in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) in a 300 user environment.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows Server, macOS, etc.).
- Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with hybrid domain solutions.
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.) and system security best practices.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring and management tools.
- Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressure and maintain a calm, solution-oriented approach.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
- NICE TO HAVE
- Experience administering SharePoint environments.
