ESTIMATOR- Mid/Senior Level

Primary Function:
Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Unit Managers to develop accurate cost estimates and competitive proposals for customer projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze customer RFQs, including drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Develop fabrication and execution plans in collaboration with manufacturing engineers to establish the basis of estimate for each project.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with qualified vendors and subcontractors to support accurate pricing and scheduling.
• Create work breakdown structures and support the development of project schedules using MS Project, as required.
• Assist in the preparation of customer quotations and proposals to ensure compliance with technical and commercial requirements.
• Coordinate with Account Managers and cross-functional teams to confirm availability of manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Provide support for the development of technical proposals and supporting documentation.
• Present cost estimates for internal review and approval.
• Perform post-project cost analysis by comparing estimated costs to actual results and identifying root causes of variances.
• Identify cost trends and provide input to cost reduction initiatives and process improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Associate’s degree from a two-year college or university; or five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Multiple years of hands-on fabrication experience combined with estimating responsibilities.

This role requires independent analysis of technical drawings, manufacturing processes, labor requirements, and material costs. Estimator must evaluate multiple execution scenarios, assess vendor and subcontractor options, and make judgment-based decisions that affect project feasibility, pricing strategy, and resource allocation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Proficiency in cost modeling, labor estimating, and material takeoffs.
• Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales.
• Use of project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project) and advanced Excel functionality.

The employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet – typical of what is generally found in an office setting. The employee will occasionally find it necessary to enter a manufacturing environment. The manufacturing environment is typical of that type of setting – employees may be exposed to inclement weather, loud noises, tripping hazards; and there may be exposure to sparks, welding arc, open flame, and moving equipment.
