We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial functions of the organization, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting and budgeting.
This is an accounting position in a people-oriented environment. In addition to being confident with the numbers, the person in this role will interact regularly with members, employees, vendors and leadership and become a familiar, approachable presence within the organization.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals and attention to detail with a warm, gracious and professional interpersonal style. This is not a strictly heads-down accounting role. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, building positive professional relationships and contributing to a service-oriented environment.
• Manage accounts receivable, including member billing, monthly statements, payment posting and reconciliation
• Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices, check runs and vendor account management
• Process weekly payroll and review employee timekeeping information
• Handle administrative onboarding of new employees
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform and support month-end closing activities
• Prepare P&L statements and other financial reports
• Assist with budget preparation, monitoring and tracking
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Respond professionally to member account and billing questions
• Communicate effectively with members, employees, vendors and leadership
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality of financial and employee information
• Build positive relationships with members and employees and serve as an approachable point of contact
• When appropriate, assist with welcoming or greeting members and guests at Club events or functions
• Previous bookkeeping, accounting or related financial experience
• Knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Payroll processing experience
• Understanding of journal entries, month-end processes and financial reporting
• Experience with budgeting and financial tracking
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Professional written and verbal communication
• Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• A warm, gracious and approachable demeanor
• Comfort interacting regularly with members, guests, employees and leadership
• Ability to build rapport and establish positive professional relationships
Experience in hospitality, private clubs or another member/customer-focused environment may be helpful, but it is not required. Strong accounting fundamentals, professionalism, interpersonal skills and the ability to learn the organization's systems are key considerations.
The position may utilize Northstar, BILL and Paylocity. Previous experience with these specific systems is not required. Training can be provided; however, candidates should have the technical aptitude and accounting foundation necessary to learn and use them successfully.
