Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities to identify occupational therapy needs
- Develop and implement customized care plans focused on assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and functional independence
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning and ensure seamless patient transitions across care settings
- Provide therapy sessions for individuals with disabilities, autism, or post-acute conditions in inpatient, outpatient, home health, or school environments
- Assist patients in regaining skills through therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and assistive device training
- Document patient progress meticulously and adjust treatment strategies accordingly to meet evolving goals
- Educate patients and caregivers on safety techniques, activity modifications, and health maintenance strategies
Requirements
- Valid occupational therapy license or certification in the relevant jurisdiction
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, or individuals with disabilities
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and therapeutic techniques
- Experience with acute care settings such as ICU or inpatient units is highly desirable
- Familiarity with early intervention programs and skilled nursing facilities enhances your candidacy
- Ability to develop detailed care plans and perform case management effectively
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients effectively
