What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prepress Production Artist position at Premier Printing Solutions?
Premier Printing Solutions is a values-driven printing business built on integrity, accountability, quality work, and sustainability. We produce marketing materials, large format, menus, packaging, and other custom print materials for clients who expect clean execution and reliable turnaround. We communicate clearly, manage expectations, and use recycled and sustainable materials whenever possible.
The Role
We’re hiring a Prepress Production Artist to prepare client files for printing, organize digital assets, and keep production workflows moving. This is primarily a prepress role, not a conceptual design position. You’ll place artwork into templates, review files for accuracy, make small edits when needed, export press-ready PDFs, and route jobs into production.
Compensation & Growth
This role starts at $23/hr. We offer paid time off, sick leave, and flexible scheduling as workload allows. As you grow confidence in core prepress responsibilities, there is opportunity to increase pay based on improving workflow efficiency, mastering new tools (such as RIP or automation), reducing errors/waste, or helping streamline production processes.
What You’ll Do
- Review files for bleeds, resolution, fonts, color profiles (Preflight)
- Place artwork into production templates and layouts
- Make edits (alignment, text corrections, cleanup)
- Export press-ready PDFs using internal workflow standards
- Assign job numbers and follow file naming conventions
- Pull archived files for re-orders
- Organize digital assets and maintain clean server structure
- Route files to the correct RIP systems and queues
- Communicate file issues or missing assets to the team
What You Bring
- Strong attention to detail and clean digital organization
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat/PitStop
- Adobe Photoshop skills (color correction, cropping, resizing images, adjusting resolution, file cleanup)
- Pride in doing things right the first time
- Clear communication and accountable work style
Why You’ll Love It Here
You’ll join a respectful, collaborative team where your work is a critical link between client files and finished product. We support growth, learning, and the satisfaction of seeing your work become real pieces used in the community.
