Commercial Building Maintenance Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled, self-managed Building Engineer who excels working independently and takes full ownership of building operations. This role requires a proactive professional with strong HVAC expertise who can troubleshoot, prioritize, and execute repairs with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues
- Service and repair 3-phase, 5-ton rooftop units (RTUs)
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues quickly and effectively
- Perform plumbing repairs and general building maintenance as needed
- Perform minor electrical work including ballast replacements, tombstone replacements, can light repairs, lighting retrofits, and general electrical troubleshooting
- Follow all safety protocols and refrigerant handling guidelines
- Maintain accurate records and logs of repairs, maintenance schedules, and HVAC supply inventory
- Document completed work in the work order system
- Communicate effectively with tenants and property management regarding service requests and updates
- Respond promptly to maintenance calls and building needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong HVAC experience is required
- EPA Universal Certification (required)
- Proven experience with 3-phase, 5-ton rooftop units
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, troubleshooting methods, and equipment
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting repairs and basic circuit troubleshooting
- Solid plumbing repair experience
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Must have your own tools

- Working from various heights
- Lifting 50 pounds
- Extensive walking throughout the buildings
