This position reports to the Distribution Manager. The tasks listed below describe the major responsibilities of the position but should not be considered conclusive. All handbook principles apply concerning personal conduct and other company mandates. This position requires time management, space assessment skills, organization, ability to multi-task, verbal and written communication skills, basic match, computer literacy, asset utilization skills, organizational product knowledge, general knowledge of DOT compliance, customer geography, and an understanding of cross department functions.

Essential Functions:

• The Dispatcher oversees 6 drivers.
• Serves as a driver trainer for new hires as it relates to work instructions, SOPs, routes, customer locations, and business practices.
• Reports all accidents and traffic violations to both the Shipping Manager and Distribution Manager.
• Receives approved dispatch sheets from the Shipping Manager.
• Aligns the day’s freight with available drivers. Dispatches individual drivers with assigned loads, routes, bill of ladings, and timelines.
• Tracks individual driver hours available and log book activity.
• Coordinates equipment repair, scheduled maintenance, and recovery operations.
• Upon a drivers return from a scheduled delivery the Dispatcher takes custody of the signed bill of lading, verifies presence of customer signature, and checks for discrepancies.
• Follows all safety rules, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Serves as a backup in other positions determined by the Shipping Manager.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Some college preferred

Salary : $52,281 - $65,322
