Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our clinical team. The nurse will assist providers with patient care, support clinic operations, and help ensure a positive patient experience in a fast-paced gastroenterology practice.
1. Provides health assessment for patients directed toward continuing a state of wellness, establishing the need for nursing intervention, and evaluating responses to outcomes of therapy.
- Assesses patient health status, history and knowledge of health maintenance including socioeconomic and emotional status.
- Assesses patient compliance with and response to a prescribed plan of care including therapeutic outcomes.
- Accurately evaluates patient problems in person or via the telephone with resolution of the problem through advice, intervention or referral.
- Performs appropriate physical and/or developmental assessments.
- Measures and records physiologic and growth indices and changes (i.e., height, weight, vital signs)
- Assesses patient learning needs regarding normal functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self-management and access to health care resources.
2. Plans and validates activities related to the nursing care for specific patients.
3. Provides therapeutic care.
- Delivers physical care to patients following medical direction including monitoring of patient response and results during care.
Administers medications.
B. Additional Guidelines
- Intravenous access must be continuously maintained in the patient receiving IV
- Collects and processes specimens accurately, complying with appropriate guidelines for handling.
- Performs assigned procedures.
- Evaluates and revises plan of care based on changes in patient status and the individual’s response to treatment.
- Provides emergency care including CPR.
- Documents accurately and completely.
- Documents assessment, care provided, and data collection appropriately in the patient history and other relevant locations. This includes the collection of data for statistical purposes.
- Documents information following practice policies and procedures as required for forms, i.e., lab/procedure forms.
- Provides normative care to include directing, translating, interpreting, chaperoning, assisting the physician, preparing patients for exams or visits, and coordinating patient’s scheduling as appropriate. Ensures that appropriate supplies and equipment are available in the office.
- Communicates with other health professionals, families, and referral agencies regarding health status and needs of particular patients.
- Access and retrieves information from the computer.
- Coordinates and clarifies roles and care provided by multi-disciplinary teams and community resources for specific patients or groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN or LPN Licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Experience: Minimum of two years nursing is desired, but we are willing to train an otherwise qualified candidate.
- Current CPR/ALS certification.
