What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Premier Health?
As a vital member of our clinical care team, the Medical Assistant (MA) supports physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedures, and accurate electronic documentation.
Experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) EMR — including documenting Notes and entering clinical data — is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for exams: record vitals, update medical history, review medications, and note chief complaints
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
- Accurately document patient encounters and provider notes in eClinicalWorks (ECW)
- Enter and update lab results, referrals, imaging orders, and prescriptions within ECW
- Manage patient communications, including follow-up instructions and test result callbacks
- Perform in-office testing (EKG, strep, flu, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, etc.)
- Administer injections, vaccines, and medications as directed by a licensed provider
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and sterilization procedures for equipment
- Support coordination of care: referrals, authorizations, and lab/imaging scheduling
- Uphold strict HIPAA compliance and maintain patient confidentiality
- Collaborate closely with front desk and nursing teams to optimize patient flow and experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred
- 1 year experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic setting
