Surgical Scheduler

Job description:

Premier Health is the region’s largest primary care based, multi-specialty medical group, providing our communities with excellent patient care at multiple locations throughout Sussex, Morris, Warren, and Pike Counties.

Our Specialist Office located in Sparta (Sussex County) is currently seeking a highly organized, detail oriented, motivated individual, eager to utilize their education in an expanding medical practice to schedule all surgical and gastroenterology procedures in our ambulatory surgery center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Coordinates surgical/procedural scheduling for all General Surgery and Gastroenterology procedures.

· Responds to both written and oral correspondence regarding schedules, changes and cancellations in a timely and accurate manner.

· Confirms patient’s insurance and obtains referrals and/or prior authorization for procedure in a timely manner.

· Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, medical clearances, pre-surgical testing.

· Initiates follow up of medical clearances and PATs and works with physicians to ensure patient is fully vetted for surgery.

· Interacts with patients, physicians and staff within the physician practice and the ASC.

· Coordinates, processes, and maintains all paperwork required to meet physician practice and surgery center protocol.

· Communicates as needed with physicians and staff about patient concerns and issues related to scheduling.

Requirements for the position include:

· HS graduate or equivalent

· 2 years’ experience surgical scheduling in an office practice, hospital or surgery center setting

· Prior authorization/insurance verification experience

· Strong customer service skills

· Candidate should be familiar with EMR, knowledge of Epic a plus
