JOB – Senior Electrical Engineer
LOCATION – Tampa, FL
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – $120,000 – $150,000 Benefits
My client – a well-established, Florida-based engineering consultancy – are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support a strong pipeline of projects across petrochemical, refining, chemical, and industrial sectors. This is a key technical leadership position, focused on delivering high-quality electrical power and distribution system designs across the full project lifecycle.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with PE licensure
• 10–15 years’ experience in electrical engineering design within heavy industrial environments
• Strong front-end engineering experience – FEED packages, Basis of Design, load lists, one-line/three-line diagrams
• Proven experience conducting power system studies – short circuit, coordination, load flow (ETAP preferred)
• Experience specifying and selecting electrical equipment – switchgear, VFDs, soft starters (Allen-Bradley exposure required)
• Strong background across greenfield and brownfield projects within petrochemical, refinery, or phosphate industries
• Ability to produce and review detailed engineering documentation, calculations, and technical reports
• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers
• Field experience supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational upgrades
The Senior Electrical Engineer’s role will involve:
• Leading the full lifecycle of electrical system design – from feasibility and FEED through to detailed design and execution
• Performing electrical calculations, studies, and system analyses to support project delivery
• Developing specifications, datasheets, and technical documentation for electrical systems and equipment
• Designing power distribution systems including grounding, lighting, and wiring schematics
• Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure delivery on time and within budget
• Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, including resource allocation
• Reviewing, checking, and sealing final engineering deliverables
• Supporting operational improvements, system upgrades, and troubleshooting activities at client sites
