JOB – Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION – Sarasota, FL

TERM – Direct Hire

SALARY – $100,000 - $125,000 per annum

My client – an industry leading OEM of packaging machinery solutions for use across a number of industries – are on the lookout for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support their growing team.

The candidate must have proven experience in the design of sheet metal componentry using SolidWorks, ideally within a machinery manufacturing environment.

This position is predominantly office-based, with occasional visits to suppliers and manufacturing partners as required.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3 years' experience in mechanical design within the machinery manufacturing or related industries.
• Expert proficiency with SolidWorks, particularly in sheet metal design and complex assembly modeling.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including laser cutting, bending, welding, and general fabrication.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer duties will involve:

• Designing and developing sheet metal components and assemblies for packaging machinery.
• Producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and documentation using SolidWorks.
• Collaborating with manufacturing, R&D, and purchasing teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective designs.
• Supporting prototype builds and resolving design issues through the manufacturing process.
• Improving existing machinery designs to enhance functionality, manufacturability, and efficiency.
• Participating in design reviews and project meetings.
