Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile Hybrid Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant to support both the administrative and clinical functions of our podiatry clinic in San Mateo. This role involves working closely with the head podiatrist and collaborating with our exceptional back-end phone receptionist who specializes in EPIC EMR. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic setting, takes initiative, and contributes positively to our team and patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Tasks:
- Greet and check-in patients, manage appointment scheduling and cancellations.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries with solid customer care.
- Process patient registrations, maintain accurate records, and manage billing and insurance claims as needed.
- Oversee front desk operations to ensure a welcoming environment for patients.
- Take on additional tasks as needed, such as managing social media, creating patient spreadsheets and analysis, or assisting with room cleaning.
Clinical Support:
- Prepare exam rooms for patient visits and assist the podiatrist during examinations and procedures.
- Ensure medical instruments and supplies are sanitized, stocked, and maintained.
- Handle basic clinical tasks such as taking patient vitals.
- Manage supplies, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
Ideal Candidate
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a medical office, preferably in podiatry or a related field; has worked in the healthcare industry with solid customer care, handling phone calls, and scheduling appointments. Experience with EPIC EMR is ideal but not required—minimal experience with any EMR system is a plus.
- Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, proficiency with medical software (e.g., Electronic Health Records), and basic clinical skills.
- Personal Qualities: Highly motivated, highly organized, makes very few errors, highly adaptable, highly coachable—learns from mistakes without repeating them, handles criticism well and improves quickly. Seeks a long-term position over several years, wants to learn and grow with the clinic. Willing to handle a large volume of patient in-flow and workflows while staying organized and error-free. Savvy and appreciative of AI, with basic knowledge of large language models (LLMs).
